Mawimbi is a private oceanfront retreat on the North Eastern coast of Tanzania. Meaning ‘tides’ in Swahili, Mawimbi takes on a figurative meaning to encompass the natural ebb and flow of life. Developed in harmony with its stunning coastal vistas and the rich nature that surrounds it, Mawimbi has evolved in the pursuit of laid-back luxury into the contemporary villa it is today.

With convenient access by road, sea or plane to some of Tanzania’s most celebrated destinations, Mawimbi is the perfect spot from which to take in historic coastal trading towns, fantastic game viewing regions, and more.

Mawimbi was conceived as a family retreat with a unique take on hideaway relaxation. Designed as a home away from home, the villa sleeps twelve people across six spacious bedrooms, each styled in tune with the surrounding beachfront and gardens. Every bedroom looks out to the Indian ocean, and further benefits from two entrance points, granting patrons the freedom to opt between the house’s spacious interiors and direct access to the outdoors
