2 Days Tsavo East National Park & Taita Hills Sanctuary

While on the other hand in Tsavo National Park are limited due to it’s environment, it forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species etc.

Taita Hills Sanctuary is in South Eastern Kenya and at the edge of park and Taita Hills Game Lodge is located at the main entrance to the Sanctuary. A stone building of 60 spacious rooms and two suites, all with their own private viewing balcony. This lodge has a museum that displays some of the World War 1 memorabilia as part of the rich history of Taita Taveta County. Overnight is at Salt Lick Game Lodge with profound game viewing chances from your room balcon.

Both combined shall fulfil your night out from Kenya coast or from Kenya city Nairobi.

Day 1: Tsavo East National Park & Taita Hills Sanctuary, Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge (Fullboard)

You would be picked up from your residence at 06:00 and be driven to Tsavo East National Park where you would arrive at 09:00 time for morning for game drive until time for sumptuous lunch in Voi Safari Lodge at 13:00.

Why Voi Safari Lodge, you can look out onto the three water holes and see the ever-changing Panorama of Africa unfold right before your eyes and at the same time enjoy the luxury of waiters’ service. There is a special ‘HIDE’ for the camera enthusiasts affording close-up and candid pictures of the wild animals which do not suspect any human presence.

In the afternoon from 15:00 you would depart Tsavo East National Park to Taita Hills Sanctuary where you will arrive time for evening game drive which is only 40 minutes drive away. Game drive until time for check in Taita Game Lodge at around 18:30 then be transferred to Saltlick Game Lodge for dinner and overnight in the lodge.

While in Salt Lick Game Lodge large numbers of wildlife come to drink at the adjacent waterholes – these provide a wonderful opportunity to view animals close proximity in their natural habitat. The lobby and terraced bar offer excellent views and photographic opportunities, while an underground tunnel and bunker with ground level windows provides unbelievably close yet safe access to a variety of animals as they drink.

Day 2: Back to Kenya Coast

You would wake up for tea or coffee and a snack at 06:00 then at 06:30 depart for morning game drive until time for full breakfast at 08:00 in the lodge. After a short rest from 10:00 check out for another game drive in the sanctuary until time for lunch in Taita Game Lodge. Thereafter depart to Kenya coast to arrive time for dinner and overnight in your villa.
