At a glance

One of the happiest moments on this Kenya safari is spending the night at Salt Lick Game Lodge, a luxurious safari escape set in the heart of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. It overlooks a waterhole and the vast Tsavo plains. Covering an area of 100 sq km, the landscape is dramatic, and all the plains wildlife is here in abundance. Visiting offers a good mix of beautiful landscapes, excellent birdwatching, and decent mammal populations. Nothing is guaranteed here, but lions and elephants are frequently sighted.

They will also demonstrate their deep affection for their homestead, called a Boma, which consists of round huts made of sticks, mud, and cow dung. Children will be joyfully singing with their mothers, expressing their natural hospitality to visitors. Despite the current mandatory school attendance, some Masai children may be reluctant to attend due to strong cultural beliefs.
