Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Masai Mara National Reserve, Ashnil Mara Camp (Fullboard)
Meet and greet at the hotel reception, then transfer to the airport before 07:00. Fly from either
Moi International Airport Mombasa, Diani Airport, or Malindi Airport before 07:30 to Masai
Mara National Reserve’s Olkiombo Airstrip, arriving after about 2 hours.
Upon arrival, you will
be met and picked up by a 4WD Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof and both sides open for a game
drive en route to Ashnil Mara Camp, with a great possibility of seeing wildlife in their natural
habitat within the Masai Mara National Reserve. There will be refreshments followed by lunch at
13:00.
An afternoon game drive will take place from 15:30 to 18:30 time for refreshments, followed by
dinner at 19:30 and overnight stay at the camp.

Our luxury Masai Mara Camp is arguably in one of the very best positions in the Masai Mara for game viewing and also provides the perfect setting to sit and relax at the end of a exciting day of game drives. The Ashnil Mara Camp is a 4 – 5 hour drive from Nairobi or there are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi to the Masai Mara which take just 45 mins. You may also fly from the Mombasa Coast to our luxury tented camp in just 2 hrs.
A line of forty luxury tents along the river offers elegant and modern double or twin suites, all with electricity and hot and cold running water. Décor is light and natural, with splashes of colour in the ethnic rugs and throws adding an African feel. Vast beds under swathes of mosquito net, richly coloured timber floors and roll-down canvas panels give the interiors a sense of traditional safari style. Each has a private sundeck overlooking the river.
The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of Africa’s most famous parks. The wildlife viewing is superb throughout the year. The grassy plains and regular rainfall supports a huge population of herbivores, in turn attracting many predators. All three big cats are relatively easy to see. The yearly wildebeest migration coming through the park is one of the world’s most amazing wildlife spectacles.
The Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is home to the annual wildebeest migration where 2.5 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelles follow the rains in search of new grass. They make their way from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara somewhere around July and August, and usually arrive in September. The crossing of the Mara River along the way is one of the highlights of this spectacular event. They slowly head back into Tanzania around October.

The Masai Mara National Reserve isn’t one of Kenya’s birding hotspots. However, with more than 500 bird species recorded, this isn’t a bad place to mark off a lot of Kenya’s savannah species from your bird list. The park is particularly rich in raptors with 57 species present. Bateleurs can often be seen soaring above the grassy plains and predator kills are a good place to find up to six species of vultures scavenging. Migratory birds are present from November to April.

Day 2: Masai Mara National Reserve, Ashnil Mara Camp (Fullboard)
Early in the morning at 06:00, take tea or coffee and a snack, then depart for the morning game
drive at 06:30 with a packed full breakfast to be consumed at a designated place in the Masai
Mara National Reserve wilderness. Continue the game drive until lunchtime at the camp at
13:00.
The afternoon game drive is from 15:30 to 18:30time for refreshments, followed by dinner at
19:30 and overnight stay at the camp.

Day 3: Fly to Kenya Coast
This would be your last day of this Kenya safari. You will wake up for a full breakfast, and then
be transferred to Olkiombo Airstrip in Masai Mara National Reserve to catch a flight to the
Kenyan coast at 11:00. Fly to either Malindi Airport, Diani Airport, or Moi International Airport
in Mombasa City, arriving at 13:00, where you will be transferred to the hotel reception.
