The national reserve lies approximately 33km south of Mombasa town, in Kwale district of coast province. The coastal ecosystem comprise of a heterogeneous habitat including forestlands, exotic plantations, scrublands and grasslands. The ecosystem holds one of the largest coastal forests in East Africa after Arabuko-Sokoke forest.

The reserve is rich in flora and fauna and hosts the highest density of African elephant in Kenya. Other animal species found in the area are Sable antelope, black and rufous elephant shrew, bushy tailed mongoose and other small mammals like fruit bat.

DAY 1.
On the first day of your Kenyan Safari you will be picked from your hotel early in the morning at 06:30 hours, then drive for about forty-five minutes to reach this cool and lush reserve. You will start searching for the animals including elephant, giraffe, buffalo, warthog, the rare Sable antelope that are only found here in the whole of East Africa and maybe the leopard. All these plus colourful birds are seen in a green Rainforest of Shimba hills.

Thereafter you will tour the Sheldrick Falls at the slopes of the hills before lunchtime. Watch water splashing a top a cliff 30 metres high and the water forms a natural pool causing casual sports wear are preferable

It is very important to put into consideration before disembarking from the vehicle to go down the hill 45 minutes gentle walk that this is a fitness exercise and it’s recommended for the physically fit people.

Lunch will be at the Shimba lodge and it will be served in a restaurant-overlooking waterhole. The lodge is the only tree hotel at the coast and it has a stunning view from its base of rainforest. After lunch you will have another game drive to nature walk zone. This is a guided tour and at times, you come close to the wild game a thrill for your Kenyan Safari.

Sit around a born fire as the resident naturist takes you through the history of the lodge, park and its inhabitants. The sun is now preparing to set and you watch the beautiful rays which lift up the sky as it goes down the horizon. On a clear day, you can see the Usambara Mountains in Tanzaniaas the Kenyan Safari continues.

Drive back to the lodge and get refreshed as you await to have a sumptuous dinner in the main restaurant. Our restaurant is open for drinks and you have the night at leisure then dinner and overnight in the lodge.

ON DAY 2 OF THE KENYAN SAFARI YOU WILL TRANSFER BACK TO THE BEACH RESORT.

The day starts with an early morning game drive where you would be likely to see the elephant, buffaloes and other animals including elusive leopard reverting back to the lodge for breakfast. This will be followed by another game drive in the park enroute to the beach resort as your Kenyan Safari continues arriving in mid morning at 11:00 hours.

Price per person sharing adults when 4 and above in the vehicle is US$ 127.00

Child of 3 to 11 years sharing a room with 2 adults is charged 50% of per adult rate and 2 children in own room each is charged 75% of per adult rate.
